I came up with a workshop designed to enhance a child’s creativity and explore a child’s interest in the culinary arts. Last November 28, 2008 at the Little Saint’s Progressive Center in Rolling Hills New Manila we had our very first workshop which proved to be a success. I must admit I was a bit apprehensive at first. I wanted the workshop to be fun and meaningful for the kids. Since our cake kits costs a bit more than the regular art kits using paper and paint, I wanted this workshop to be fun and for the kids to learn more than just decorating and eating their own cake.

I must say the result exceeded far more than I expected. The kids were amazed when we decorated a Barney dummy cake. They also got to participate while chef dennis, our cake decorator decorated the cake. When it was time for them to decorate their own cake, we were quite amazed because although the kids used the same decorations, they came up with different cake designs proving that each of us when given the same colors of paint will come up with different works of art. They also were able to improve their motor skills by handling a piping bag and spreading the icing on the cake using a spatula. And the very best part is that they get to eat their cake too
Some though, took their creations home so they could show it to their mom and dad.
I recommend this workshop for kids ages 4 and up. I would also like to invite pre-schools to try our workshop. This is also great for children’s birthday parties where the kids can get to decorate and eat their own cake. We also have cookie kits where kids can decorate their own cookies. These are also perfect for kiddie parties, the kids can decorate their own mini cake or cupcakes!!!
